I usually purchase my sponges at the beach when we go every year. The ones I get there (in cheap roadside shell stores) are soft and last forever.With the oil spill we have not gone as much lately and I ordered this sponge. It is rough and hurts my skin. I can only use it on my feet and it started falling apart the first time I used it. It leaves pieces on your body when you use it. NOT GOOD FOR KIDS...only get if you have tuff and ruff skin.DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AT ALL!! Review: NOT sea sponges

The only thing these sponges have to do with the sea is that they were shipped here on a boat from China. These are fake, plastic, ersatz, imitation sponges. If, like me, you need a sponge that will withstand high temperatures, please understand that these will deteriorate and melt under heat. Review: Not good

I missed that it said foam. This is what they use to fill couches and pad chairs. It falls apart in the shower. I might use it to wash my car. Review: Very good

Not sea sponge, just foam shaped like a sponge. This is not indicated anywhere prior to purchase, ie "synthetic". Works as well as a foam sponge
