I can tell that Badger sunscreen blocks a broad spectrum of rays as my skin does not turn red after being in the sun. My spf 15 does need to be reapplied periodically. It does have a medicinal smell and I agree that it needs to be rubbed in thoroughly. It separates into an oil and a paste. Review: Badger spf 30 sunscreen

I purchased this sunscreen based on the Environmental Working Group's recommendation. I put it on my small children and have yet to see them burn. It is difficult to apply on wiggly, impatient children as it is a bit pasty and does leave their skin looking white until it is absorbed. My main complaint is that every time, without fail, I have put this on my children, they have been swarmed by bees. The bees must be attracted to an ingredient in the sunscreen as my children are not normally swimming in bees. I will not purchase this product again for that reason - I am concerned that they may be stung. Review: Best Mineral Based Sunscreen I've Tried

I really like this product.
1. It works. I haven't burned while wearing this sunscreen.
2. It has a pleasant smell (in part to the essential oils used "Essential Oils of Lavender, Moroccan Blue Tansy, Ylang Ylang, Lime & Sweet Orange."
3. The white hazy look of the sunscreen is not bad compared to others (and is to be expected with any mineral-based sunscreen). It is not streaky.
I gave it four instead of five stars because it is a little expensive for the amount you get.
Sunscreen tip: I like to keep it in the refrigerator so it will last longer and not degrade as quickly (since there are so many oils in it).

I have the most pale white skin and have experienced many, many sun burns throughout my life. I have tried just about every sunscreen there is (Coppertone, Banana Boat, Olay, Waterproof brands, etc.) and this is the only one that has worked. I tried it on a 90 degree day in Wildwood, NJ, went swimming, and did not burn. Note that it somewhat rubbed off on my towel after, so I would recommend reapplying if you plan to go back into the sun after drying off. But overall, it is really healthy for your skin and you will not burn!
