Product reviews of Badger SPF 30 Sunscreen For Face & Body 2.9 oz (87 ml) Review: The only one that works! Beauty product: 4 Stars
I get horrible contact dermatitis from any sort of chemical sunscreen except for sunscreens that contain only octinoxate. I used to use an SPF 15 Olay moisturizer that had only octinoxate and zinc oxide in it, but they changed the formula on me without me knowing, and, lo and behold, on the first application, I got what resembled a chemical burn and did not go away for 3 weeks. In my search of octinoxate or zinc oxide products, I stumbled across this one.
I have very pale and easily burning skin. Applying this sunscreen somewhat liberally (about a peanut-sized amount for each arm, for scale) every 2 hours or so keeps me from burning at all, and leaves me with either my original skin tone or only slightly darker, lightly tanned skin. Yes, it is difficult to apply, and yes, you are still going to have whitish residue wherever you apply it even after a full minute of vigorously rubbing it in -- but, if you just keep rubbing at it, eventually, it WILL blend decently enough. I wouldn't recommend this product for dark-skinned people, because the whitish residue would be too obvious, but for fair-skinned people, the skin tinting will be subtle enough. The smell of this sunscreen in the bottle is kind of weird, but you can't really smell it at all after rubbing it in.
If you're going to get it, use it quickly or store it in a cold space -- the oils in it will settle out and some will solidify after a while. Squeezing the bottle while it's closed, however, should do the trick if it just won't come out.
One main drawback that I should mention is that this will not absorb completely into your skin and it thus leaves a creamy layer on top of your skin. For beach-goers like me, that means you need to avoid laying directly in sand as much as possible or else it will stick to you and it will NOT come off until you take a shower. I'd still rather look like a sand monster than get an itchy sunburn, though.
Review: Thick, but effective Beauty product: 4 Stars
Typical zinc oxide product -- it's quite thick and leaves a white film when first applied. But it does "soak" in after awhile, and it seems to be pretty water resistant. Has a nice, lavender scent (although my nine year old is not crazy about the smell). Bought it b/c it scored high on Environmental Working Group's sunscreen rating system. Will probably purchase it again.
Review: Too messy, too smelly, too much! Beauty product: 1 Stars
This product has a very thick consistency that does not absorb well. It leaves white streaks on your skin. It does work but so does Sunny Days, another top rated sunscreen which absorbs quickly and without the mess. At 2.9 ounces it is more than an ounce LESS than Sunny Days and costs 2 bucks more. It smells terrible and Sunny Days has a nice smell.
Review: Very good product for your skin protection Beauty product: 5 Stars
I have a very sensitive skin, and many products like this give me a very strong rash, but this one since i started using it, no problem. Thank God.
Review: Very long time for delivery...but a good product. Beauty product: 4 Stars
Took a quite a few weeks for delivery. Product is good, but difficult to rub in. Leaves you with white hue on your skin. Smells nice.
