Product reviews of Badger SPF 30 Sunscreen For Face & Body 2.9 oz (87 ml)

Review: Happy with it
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I found the sunscreen to spread evenly. There are some lumps in it, but that also spread without problems. I only use a little on my face and that doesn't make it look pale. However, it can be a bit greasy.
So though overall I'm pretty satisfied now, I may try something else in the summer for my face.

Review: Hard to spread a major problem
Beauty product: 2 Stars

I had to try this sunblock because of the great reviews it has received about being environmentally friendly and safe to use. BUT, this sunblock really is VERY hard to spread. The first time I rubbed this on my face, it seriously looked like I was wearing a pasty white mask (I have tanned skin, which probably made it more exaggerated). It does "rub" into your skin in the sense that you can get it to apply evenly, but the sickly white color does not go away. After spending some time trying to "rub it in" and realizing that it's not going anywhere, I had to wash my face 2-3 times and I still could not get it off completely . . . so kudos on being water resistent. I'm still giving it 2 stars because I appreciate products that are environmentally friendly. It probably does work well as far as sun protection (who knows?), but certainly not good for everyday wear if you want to look normal.

Review: Herbal Ghost
Beauty product: 5 Stars

For those potential buyers who want a chemical free sunblock but don't want to look like ghosts... Unfortunately, these sunblocks, by their nature turn you white - they have to in order to be effective! They work by blocking the sun's harmful uva/uvb rays from ever reaching your skin. That is what makes them different from chemical sunscreens - these sink into your skin. The two non chemical sunblocks available are Titanium Dioxide or Zinc Oxide. Both turn you white unless they are made into nano ("clear") particles. However, breaking them into smaller pieces like this may be harmful (since they might absorb into your skin) and they may not work as well since they aren't creating a physical barrier between your skin and the sun. So, if you don't want to look like a ghost, don't buy chemical-free sunblocks. If you want to be as safe as possible, sport your ghostly countenance with confidence.

As far as those complaining about the smell... I think it smells heavenly! If you like all-natural things, you're probably going to like this stuff. It reminds me of those herbal aromatherapy heat packs that you throw in the microwave. If you think the smell of lavender and citrus mixed together would stink, don't get this product - I personally find it heavenly smelling.

Review: Ho hum
Beauty product: 2 Stars

Let me start by saying that I have just about every Badger product. I ADORE their balms and lip products. Now let me say, that I'm horribly disappointed with this sunscreen.

It's thick like clay and no matter how much I rubbed it in, the "white face" didn't go away...and I'm quite pale to start with. It's gritty (for a still unknown reason) and the smell isn't pleasant at all. In fact, its awkward and doesn't go away. I use sunblock religiously and unfortuantly this just isn't what I was hoping it would be.

Review: In a word: Ineffective
Beauty product: 2 Stars

I really wanted to like this, given the fact that it is highly rated by the Environmental Working Group in terms of being non-toxic and it is a brand whose other products I have liked. However, I have gotten two bad burns using this stuff! I am a religious user of sunscreen, and I know that it needs to be applied 30 minutes or so before sun exposure and needs to be reapplied periodically while you are out in the sun. Even following these sunscreen guidelines, I don't fail to burn to a CRISP wearing this stuff. I don't get it. I will certainly not repurchase or recommend this to anyone, and I will likely toss the remainder of the tube that I own. I am really disappointed!
