Review: Left skin extremely DRY on my face, had to stop using!

I did not expect this. In first few months of use, it worked pretty well and was relatively easy to rub in but left skin on my face a little dry. But now it has left the skin on my face painfully dry, with skin peeling off on my cheeks! I will NOT be buying this again! I'll just try to finish rest of bottle on my body. On a scale of 1-10, Environmental Working Group gives this product a 1, which is excellent. Most sunblocks and other body products are toxic for you. Go on their website and you will see what to use and not to use. I only need to use a tiny bit compared to other sunblocks. Review: Needs Work _ Overrated

This product was a disappointment. We wanted a natural, non toxic sunscreen for our trip to the Galapagos Islands (70 degree ecuatorial sun). We coated ourselves with it the first day and both of us came out burned. I wouldn't recommend this product or buy it again. It is not as effective as a normal 30 SPF sunscreen and people should be forewarned of its limitations when under the sun thinking they are protected. Review: Nice product

I have to admit that I do not burn easily, this was great for me. The ingredients are pure and natural and I know I am getting a good protective sunscreen without harmful chemicals. I will definately purchase again. Check out Skin Deep for the Environmental Working Group's database of safety ratings for cosmetics at [...] This product does indeed go on very white, as others have attested to. But if you take a few extra minutes to rub it in, it disappears, and the small effort is worth it. It was rated in Skin Deep a 0 for safety (the safest rating on a scale of 1-10) and was rated high for UVA protection and Medium for UVB protection. Review: No chemicals or nanoparticles

I needed sunscreen to use while awaiting the arrival of supplies (zinc, oils, beeswax) to make my own. After researching safe and natural sunscreens, I selected Badger and found it works very well. Yes, it smells a little funky--kind of medicinal, but not too bad. And yes, it's very thick and greasy. Since I use it before I swim, I don't care if it's greasy. In fact, the oils keep my skin from getting dry and irritated by the chlorine. If you knead the tube first, you shouldn't have any trouble dispensing it.
Other reviewers have complained that Badger sunscreen is too white. That's actually a good thing. When sunscreen goes on clear, that means it contains nanoparticles of zinc. Nanoparticles are sized between 1 and 100 nanometers. The particles in this product average 200 nanometers, according to the packaging. The safety of nanoparticles (whether or not they're absorbed by the skin and build up in the body, how they affect our water supply, etc.) has not been fully researched and is still debated. I'd rather look pasty than coat myself in nanoparticles.
This is a great sunscreen. I would continue to use it instead of making my own if it were cheaper. According to the Mayo Clinic's website and other sources, you're supposed to use one ounce of sunscreen per application. So if you apply sunscreen correctly, you barely get three applications from one tube. For me, it's cost prohibitive.
