Product reviews of Bag Balm Ointment, 10 oz. Review: Great to have around! Beauty product: 5 Stars
This product works incredibly well for my family. I use it on everything from dry, cracked heels, to skinned knees, and it keeps skin soft and protected while helping to heal. I've even used it on my dogs' minor skin irritations and had great success.
It's a generously sized container, and I feel that I definitely got my money's worth. However, the product itslef-- while working very well-- does smell a bit odd, and is hard to wash out of clothing/bedding. Provided that one is careful with it,l this isn't a problem, adn I highly recommend this product!
Review: I wish I could say I loved this stuff. Beauty product: 3 Stars
My family has used this product for many years and it has worked well for them. I, on the other hand, cannot use Bag Balm. I think it is due to my Sulfa allergy. I may be wrong, but it is important that people be aware of anything they are using, especially when it is not the initial intended usage. I tried it on my feet and my skin began to get red, itchy, blister, and peel. I had a little redness on my hands, as well, but I had wiped it off and washed my hands after applying it to my feet. Anyway, I noticed someone giving a warning about 8-Hydroxyquinoline sulfate and I wanted to share my experience. I know Bag Balm worked well for my family, so just be aware that it isn't for everyone. I realize very few people have a Sulfa allergy, so this product will probably work great for the majority of the people like it did for my family.
Review: If there ever was a cure-all... Beauty product: 5 Stars
I originally bought this cream (okay, goo) for my husband, who suffers from terrible cracked skin around his knuckles. My mum uses it on her gardener's hands, and swears by it. It worked great! But my husband didn't like how thick and greasy it was, and he didn't like the vaguely medicinal smell. So, I've been using it on occasion, for scrapes or chapped lips. Works wonderfully on those too.
In November, we had a baby girl, and this is when Bag Balm really became my new best friend. Her diaper rashes could get really nasty, and BB was the only thing I found that would a) protect her from any new irritation, while b) speeding up the healing process. For everyday use, I use creams, but as soon as there is any chapping or redness, out comes the BB! I live overseas, and the shipping was really expensive - but I don't regret a penny!
Review: Miracle ointment Beauty product: 5 Stars
I first found out about Bag Balm when my kids were small. They all have kids of their own now. I was thrilled to find it on Amazon because not every drug store carries it and I don't have the need to go to a feed store for anything else (that's where we first found it). Bag Balm takes care of any skin problem. Dry skin and rashes are probably where it is used the most, but it is my go-to product for anything that is bothering my skin. It has been used on minor burns with great success. My daughter loves it when her toddler twins get red in the diaper area. It is a very heavy ointment, so the area it is used on needs to be covered after use to prevent it from getting on clothes.
Review: Molluskum Contagiosum Beauty product: 5 Stars
Most parents at one time or another have to deal with kids and their skin viruses. There is a particularly nasty one. It is called Molluskum Contagiosum. It is highly contagious, passes from touching it then touching things. Can spread like warts, in fact it is in the wart family.
Well there are usually only 3 ways to get them to go away. Either wait the 1-2 years until they go away (if they go away) on their own, 2 have them burned off (frozen with nitro glycerin), or 3 have them cut off (with a scalpel and numbing medicine). Sometimes these cases can be VERY severe so can you imagine hundreds of burns or incisions.. no thank you!
Well of course my 9 year old son has a case. My niece had them before him, and my daughter also. Both of them had no problems and they went away within 6 months, but not my son. His started on his neck, and the rubbing of his shirt collar, has caused them to be irritated open up and spread nearly the full length of his neck.
The pediatrician recommended to "irritate" the lesions by scratching them or trying to "pop" them, but this only leads to more infection, and pain. I tried it a couple of times, and what ended up happening is that the next week he would have 5 more, even after washing my hands and his thoroughly after each episode.. So that wasn't working at all.
I wanted him to have them frozen off (burned) but they are on his neck too close to major structures like his esophagus and um you know that big ol' vein.. lol the jugular.. wouldn't want to cut off circulation to his brain, now would I? lol
He started to develop an underlying rash from all the irritation, and I told him to put some Bag Balm on there. It works for any rash you can find, cuts, scrapes anything... Well guess what? After 2 years of him being embarrased and teased for this skin condition.. it is going away. Last week he had probably 45-50 of them (yeah imagine 50 warts on your neck and face.. ugh) and this week, he has like 15, and they are all going away and healing.. Even the ones that I thought were infected.. totally clearing up..
It's amazing!! I will never NOT have Bag Balm in my house again.. it really is a cure all.. I even sent it to my girlfriend who is a new mom, of course for the whole diaper rash prevention..
Thank God for Bag Balm!!!
