Product reviews of Beautyblender 2 + Blendercleanser Combo, The Ultimate MakeUp Sponge Applicator + Cleanser Review: Love it! Beauty product: 5 Stars
This sponge is the best one I have ever used. It is great for blending concealer, and especially for blending around areas like your nose or eyes. I originally read about it in a magazine, and pre-ordered it from amazon as I couldn't find it anywhere else. The price point is a little intimidating, but after having used it for a few months, I believe the excellent quality makes it a good value.
A few notes about using the cleanser:
The cleanser is dispensed from the bottle by gently pushing the sponge down on the pedestal (exactly like the picture, you just push down and a small amount of cleanser is dispensed directly on to the sponge. Although generally I wouldn't buy cleanser this expensive, I am happy that I have it. It has a very light lavender fragrance and is gentle and soy-based. You don't need very much (about the size of a dime, which is what is dispensed if you use the bottle as directed) if you are cleaning your sponge on a regular basis. If you haven't cleaned it in a few days you might need to repeat a few times, but eventually the makeup will all come out.
Overall, I am very happy with this sponge and will be buying more as gifts for friends and family. I would recommend buying the 2-pack if purchasing from amazon, as it's a better value, and you'll have an extra one for travel, or to alternate between the sponges if you don't feel like cleaning them all the time! I did notice that the beautyblender website sells this sponge & cleanser combination for a lower price than amazon (plus shipping though), so you may also want to shop around a bit before making this small investment!
Review: Sponge = 10 stars, cleanser = 3 Beauty product: 5 Stars
My cleanser won't dispense properly, so I have to open the jar and pour a tiny bit on the sponge. This is enough to drag the review down a bit...however, the sponge is so awesome, it keeps the review at 5 stars!
For a few years now I've been trying to find a foundation that doesn't make me look like I've caked stuff on (which basically rules out all compact-style foundations) and that matches my very pale skin tone (which rules out a lot of others). Chantecaille's cream-style Future Skin was excellent in texture but too dark for me, for example.
I finally found a great color from Haba USA, but the foundation is a very runny liquid. For a week I struggled to get a good application but it always came out streaky and looked bad. I was about to give up and go back on the hunt for some other brand, when I decided to order this Beautyblender combo. (I'd been eying it for months, but not sure it was worth the price.)
This thing is a miracle. It is a very soft foam and it's actually like a bulb with a narrow rounded tip (in the pictures it appears to be a flat sponge with a teardrop shape). Reminds me of the foam used for the super-decibel-cutting earplugs they make. Closed-cell foam?
Because the foam is so dense, it doesn't soak up tons of foundation like some sponges do, and it applies it very evenly. Over a few days of experimenting I found that swiping it on produces a more even result than blotting it on. This is a PERFECT product and have already bought one as a gift for my sister. As long as Beautyblender's in business, I'll be supporting them.
Review: They do what they promise Beauty product: 4 Stars
Yes, they are very, very expensive but this sponge did allow me to accomplish the best application of foundation ever. Very, very natural finish. I like the cleanser very much also although I'm sure I could get the same results from using an antibacterial hand soap to cleanse the sponge. I was initially worried that the lavendar in the cleanser would bother my sinuses but there is only a very, very light scent so I haven't had any problems. I'm waiting to see how long the sponges hold up -- the package reads 3 months. If I get three months out of a sponge I will probably re-order. I doubt that I'll re-order the cleanser though.

Review: color me surprised Beauty product: 5 Stars
This is my first review, but I was so pleasantly surprised by how well this product works that I had to leave some feedback. After having perfect skin for years, my face suddenly went berserk on me in my mid-twenties and nothing I've tried has stopped the breakouts or scarring. So I've been forced to become a major makeup consumer and I'm always on the lookout for anything to make my life easier in the makeup department. I prefer mineral makeup to liquid, and the only way I've found to get adequate coverage is to start with a thick creme concealer (like dermablend) on the blemishes, then go over my whole face with a mineral foundation. Unfortunately this often results in a yucky pancake effect over the concealed areas, and achieving even looking coverage is a real pain. But it's still the best method I've found so far, since an all creme/liquid approach leaves me looking like a geisha and the all mineral "buffing" action tends to buff away any concealing effect and defeat the purpose. So you can see why I'm always on the lookout for anything that might help. Also it is a pain in the butt to keep all of those brushes clean.
So after trying just about all of the brushes on the market I turned to these sponges out of curiosity. I had high hopes but low expectations, as they seemed pretty gimmicky. But desperate times call for desperate measures, and I figured that even if the sponges were crap that I could use the cleaner on my huge brush collection.
Even though they seemed like they would only be good to use with liquid foundation, I decided to try using them with the mineral foundation first just for the heck of it. Dampened the sponge as suggested (it bloated up rather alarmingly) and sat down at the makeup table expecting a steep learning curve. First I used the pointy end to apply and blend the creme concealer with surprisingly good results. I did have to go over one or two of the darker spots with a small brush, but using the "stippling" motion to blend everything worked well without sacrificing coverage. So far so good. Now for the moment of truth-applying the powder foundation. Usually this involves several minutes of patting, gentle buffing, blending, patting again to replace the coverage that was lost from the buffing, etc. Not with this baby. It took maybe a minute of "stippling" to get an even, non-cakey finish. I probably used half as much product as usual, and there wasn't a huge powdery mess on the table. Pretty shocking. I couldn't believe it was that easy, so I went to check it out in a variety of different lighting, convinced that there must be some streak or blob somewhere that needed fixing. Nope, looks great. I was sold, even used the pointy end to clean up an eye makeup oops without messing up my foundation.
I was ready to post this review then and there, but decided to try out the cleanser first so I could include it. I don't know what the complaints are about, the dispenser worked fine and the sponge cleaned up easily. The lavender smell is a bonus, very nice. Part of the reason it was so easy to clean is that the sponge absorbed almost no product, so everything was just on the surface. Of course I only tried it with powder, it may soak up more liquid foundation. It seems designed to keep the product on the outside, so you don't lose as much foundation (and $$$) by having it sucked into a sponge.
Sorry this review is so long (and probably boring), but when you've tried as many different (and almost invariably disappointing) types of makeup and applicators as I have it always comes as a shock to find a product that works as well as it says it does. This is one. The only caveat is that since I've only used it once I can't vouch for its durability yet, but it claims on the package to last for 3 months. Time will tell.
