How Powderflage works:

Powderflage is not really a concealer. That is just marketing goo gah.

So what you do is put a regular under eye concealer on the lower lid area. Erase paste is a good example of a regular under eye concealer which is to say it doesn't have any mica or other "brightening" particles in it. Erase paste doesn't shimmer. That's what you want. Alternately you could just use a light toned opaque foundation (liquid or cream, not powder or cream to powder).

OK so you have your concealer or foundation on the lower lid area. You blended it. You give it a minute to set up or dry or whatever might be necessary.

Then you use Powderflage to set the concealer. Dust a bit on and blend it well. A soft crease brush works really well for this like a MAC 224 or my favorite the Stila #9. You don't want to look like Nicole Kidman did with the white residue on her face (Did you see that photo? Google it if you didn't, it's a great example of how not to use a product like this). That's what this will look like if you don't blend it: funny white shiny powder. And if you put it near your nostrils and don't blend (like Nicole), people will think you really were powdering your nose in the restroom. Only they will think it is a different kind of powder.

This powder works really well as a highlighter on the high part of the cheekbones, the brow bone, and on the cupids bow. I don't like it for right under the nostrils or on the nose/forehead/chin area. It is too shimmery for that in my opinion.

I think this is a really good product, it's my favorite loose highlight powder. I just don't like how it is marketed as a concealer. I think if it were marketed properly, it would have much better ratings. I took off a star because I don't like the container and it is a little high priced for the small amount.

One more thing: if you expect to be photographed with a flash, DON'T WEAR THIS UNDER YOUR EYES or any other "brightening" product under your eyes. The mica particles will reflect light, giving a strange white cast to the under eye part of your face. It will look unnatural. If you are just highlighting your brow bone, cheek bones, or cupids bow? Let that camera flash. It will look great.
