Review: Innovative, Effective, and DAMN Cool!

I've been using Hydroplane (along with the Hot Towel pre-shave treatment and Shaved Ice after shave) for just under a year now, and couldn't be happier! After reading a review of the Hot Towel in a national magazine (I believe it was Stuff), I decided to switch from a competing product, and give this brand a shot...
Hydroplane is great stuff! I can't remember the last time I had such a close shave with ZERO irritation. My facial hair grows in several different directions, and no matter what products I've tried before, I've always been faced with red face, ingrown hairs, and other various problems. Not any more!
You can actually feel the difference the silicone beads provide, as the shave is close, smooth, and comfortable.
Beyond that, the rest of the Billy Jealousy products have been superior to anything I've used in the past. I highly recommend the Hot Towel, which really is like getting that hot towel shave from a barber, along with the Shaved Ice, with it's nice, cool clean feeling afterwards.

It's good but completely overpriced! I thought it was really good until one day I didn't have it with me and needed to shave and used my Nivea body wash instead and that worked surprisingly well. Now I use the Nivea Active 3 and it works much better than the hydroplane; it produces less friction, giving me a less irritated shave (I use a Panasonic wet/dry electric shaver). The hydroplane feels really smooth when you first put it on, but after a few passes with my electric shaver, it starts producing friction and I have to reapply another layer; I don't have that problem with the Active 3 plus it's dirt cheap compared to the hydroplane. I have always used an electric razor dry, and it did not bother me too much. However, my skin would be a little dry and irritated afterwards, and a little red. Hydroplane changed all that by allowing the razor to glide over my skin, and moisturizing while doing it. My face does not appear red or dry and flaky after shaving now. My skin feels soft and smooth. And it smells good. Finally, I was worried that it would gunk up my blades or the mechanics, but since you allow it to dry a bit first, that is not a problem. This "cream" does not lather well, it's too liquidy or something. I tried it a several times and was could not help getting cut. While the scent was pleasant, it is definitely not one of the better creams out there. I have a tough beard as well and this did nothing to make the shave easier. I even used their hot towel treatment, but nothing. To be frank, it is not much better than a canned shaving gel at a drugstore. Overall, it is overrated and should only be used if you want to pay a lot of money for under performing product. Review: No bumps, no burn

It's expensive stuff and I don't like the smell. So how can I give it five stars? Because I don't get burned and my face doesn't break out. Totally worth the smell and the cost.
If I had to guess I would say the silicone base is responsible for all that is good and bad about this product. The only thing I've used that comes close to keeping my skin happy post shave is Anthony Logistics for Men Shave Cream. They're both superior products. Expect to pay extra.
