My 9-year old daughter has wanted earrings since she was little, but no matter what type of earrings we have placed, she develops a severe skin reaction and has to remove them; we've tried sea salt and steroid ointment and antibiotic ointment and daily cleansing, but nothing works for long. We even tried titanium and niobium earrings (found on-line), which didn't cause as much of a reaction, but still eventually caused skin problems and drainage. Finally, we found these earrings on Amazon. The pin and backing are clear plastic. She's had these for a couple months now, with not one sign of a skin reaction. She's very pleased (as are we), and we'll be planning to order another pair in a different color for her birthday. Two thumbs up!
