Product reviews of Cake Eye Liner Review: Arrrgghhhh Beauty product: 1 Stars
It runs, it smudges, it's not good without an mixing liquid which puts it right up there with the gels and liquid eyeliners. Besides ladies, Clinique IS BACK!
Review: At last Beauty product: 5 Stars
I have been looking for some time for a black liner that goes on smoothly and actually lasts throughout my busy day. Liquid liners don't stay for me, MAC's black cake liner flakes, Bobi Brown's gel smudges, and nothing else I've tried has worked. So when I saw this liner, I was excited. I used to use Ben Nye when I toured with a dance company, and I remembered how well it held up under the hot lights and long routines.
Well, I got my order 5 days before it was scheduled to arrive, and I am thrilled. It is exactly what I wanted, a deep, smooth black that mixes instantly with water and glides like paint off my brush. I can control it easily to make day or night time looks--and it lasts. I made a line and ran my finger over it after it had dried. It didn't smudge. Then I stuck it under the faucet. It didn't run. But when I rubbed it with soap, it came off instantly.
I just wish this seller offered it in some of the other colors it comes in (like plum), because I don't plan on using any other brand again. Ever. It works as well for the street as it did for the theater.
Review: Elvira eyes Beauty product: 2 Stars
I have to disagree with the other reviewers. I also used Clinique eye liner until they discontinued it and searched all over for a replacement. I purchased this one based on the positive reviews I read here. I however, do not like the way it goes on - thick and dark with a much heavier look than Clinique (I tried both charcoal and dark brown and use a very fine tipped brush) If you like the "Elvira" eyeliner look, then this is what you want. I like the more subtle look of the Clinique product. Also, a clerk at Macy's told me Clinique is bringing back the eyeliner in February, but nobody else I have talked to has heard that.
Review: Eureka! Beauty product: 5 Stars
After 15 years of searching for the "perfect" eyeliner, I have found it right here in Ben Nye's Cake Eyeliner. I purchased it along with the Ben Nye RS-1 round brush and Liquiset, and found it to be easy to apply, quick drying, highly pigmented and long wearing. I was previously using Dior's Style Liner (unhappily) and was paying $30 a tube so, at $8 this eyeliner is also a great value. I highly recommend it!
Review: Excellent Product Beauty product: 5 Stars
This is the best eyeliner I've ever used. I prefer cake eye liner for the control of application. I used to use Clinique but it's no longer available.
I tried Bobbie Brown gel eye liner and found it goes on a little chunky because the consistency is too thick. I tried the Ben Nye brand because of the nice colors offered (I got Charcoal.) I like it even better than the old ones I used. It goes on with great control and, at the end of the day, it looks the same with no fading or smudging. It's a great value.
