Product reviews of Cake Eye Liner Review: Fabulous cake eyeliner Beauty product: 5 StarsThis has got to be the best cake eyeliner. Very rich and long lasting. Suggestion: use lots of water and with eyeliner brush, work up a good consistency and then apply. The first time I used it, I put a tiny bit of water but the cake absorbed it quickly and very little color came off.
The great thing about cake is that because you use water, it dries quickly. And this cake eyeliner is so smooth you have great control.
One other trick: use the same shade of eyeshadow and layer over the eyeliner. This will cover any mistakes and make the eyeliner smoky and exotic looking.
Review: Elvira eyes Beauty product: 2 StarsI have to disagree with the other reviewers. I also used Clinique eye liner until they discontinued it and searched all over for a replacement. I purchased this one based on the positive reviews I read here. I however, do not like the way it goes on - thick and dark with a much heavier look than Clinique (I tried both charcoal and dark brown and use a very fine tipped brush) If you like the "Elvira" eyeliner look, then this is what you want. I like the more subtle look of the Clinique product. Also, a clerk at Macy's told me Clinique is bringing back the eyeliner in February, but nobody else I have talked to has heard that.
Review: As good or better than Clinique Beauty product: 5 StarsBen Nye cake eyeliner is as good as or better than Clinique which I have used for years. It's got a better price point and does a very good job. This is an excellent product.
Review: cake eyeliner - Ben Nye Beauty product: 5 StarsThis product is great! Even better than the Clinique eyeliner that I have used for years.
Review: At last Beauty product: 5 StarsI have been looking for some time for a black liner that goes on smoothly and actually lasts throughout my busy day. Liquid liners don't stay for me, MAC's black cake liner flakes, Bobi Brown's gel smudges, and nothing else I've tried has worked. So when I saw this liner, I was excited. I used to use Ben Nye when I toured with a dance company, and I remembered how well it held up under the hot lights and long routines.
Well, I got my order 5 days before it was scheduled to arrive, and I am thrilled. It is exactly what I wanted, a deep, smooth black that mixes instantly with water and glides like paint off my brush. I can control it easily to make day or night time looks--and it lasts. I made a line and ran my finger over it after it had dried. It didn't smudge. Then I stuck it under the faucet. It didn't run. But when I rubbed it with soap, it came off instantly.
I just wish this seller offered it in some of the other colors it comes in (like plum), because I don't plan on using any other brand again. Ever. It works as well for the street as it did for the theater.
