Product reviews of Carol's Daughter, Healthy Hair Butter, 4 Ounce

Review: Honestly shocked!
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I'm a white girl with medium-bodied curly hair (3B) and as a recent convert to the Curly Girl method, I was tasked to find natural products without silicones that held my problematic curls in July in Kentucky. Yeah right. I ordered the hair butter along with Carol's Daughter Mimosa Hair Honey, 8 oz. and I just want to sing from the rooftops how pleased I am. I used about a quarter-sized dollop, as well as a tiny bit of the hair honey, after wringing my hair out post-shower and I let my hair air dry as normal. Holy cow, my hair is awesome!! It's soft, shiny (neither of which happen often) and the curls are tighter and lighter than I've ever known. This product is probably not best for those with fine or straight hair, and the scent is strong and could be off-putting to some (though I love earthy scents and I loved the smell of this). Next time I'll probably use a little less of both only because they're a bit expensive for my college student budget. You really don't need much of this product at all--my hair is at my bra strap and is thick and full and I hardly had to use any. Can't wait until my Giovanni Hair Care - Styling L.A. Natural Gel, 8.5 fl oz gel arrives so I can have beautiful, natural curls on lock all summer long!

Review: Just......ok.....
Beauty product: 3 Stars

I've tried multiple Carol's Daughter products and for me, each of them has been kind of hit or miss. I'm in love with the Mimosa Hair Honey and the entire Tui line, but there are a couple of products (Hair milk/Healthy Hair Butter) I've tried that weren't up to par with what I was hoping to get from them. I do love that the Healthy Hair Butter does a decent job at moisturizing my hair but the smell is pretty overwhelming..almost as if I crushed up a box of sandalwood fragranced insence and then rubbed it throughout my entire head. I paid a pretty penny for it though, so I'm going to try to stick it out and hopefully I'll get used to the smell. DEFINITELY not a product for someone with fragrance-induced allergies.

Review: Love it!
Beauty product: 5 Stars

This product has more than surpassed my expectations. This product makes our hair more manageable, and works wonders when applied before braiding, plaiting, or twisting the hair. Liked it so much I bought two larger jars from Carol's Daughter.

Review: Love this stuff
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I have short, coarse, curly hair, and the hair butter works great as a leave-in conditioner. There's a definite herbal smell, not unpleasant, and fades quickly. Doesn't provide control on it's own, so I use it with pomade.

Review: My husband loves it!
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I use hair butter occasionally on my long(ish), thick, straight hair. I apply a very little bit to my wet hair and am pleased with the results. I am most satisfied when I use it at night. Also, I find the smell very pleasing and not at all strong. I use Aveda products and would say the strength of smell is comparable. My husband loves the hair butter! He has thin, dry, curly hair. This product conditions and defines his curls. It is ideal for exceptionally dry hair.
