Product reviews of Carol's Daughter, Healthy Hair Butter, 4 Ounce Review: Review of Carol's Daughter Healthy Hair Beauty product: 3 Stars
I thought CD Healthy Hair might do something different for my natural hair. I haven't noticed a difference yet. My hair is very dry and hard to manage. Then, I may have not used it long enough for it to make a difference.
The item came just as listed on the website.
Review: Smells way too strong Beauty product: 1 Stars
I really wanted to like this product and have read other reviews on it. Unfortunately, I was never able to actually use it because as soon as I opened it the smell overpowered me. It smells way too strong and the scent itself is an odd combination of ingredients. To me it smelled kind of like an Asian food market, with all kinds of spices and herbs mixed together. Separately they are good, but together they are too much.
We had planned to used this on our infant daughter's hair, but there was simply no way it would work for her simply because of the scent. I wonder if all Carol's Daughter products smell the same way? This was our first purchase. I think next time I will purchase in store to smell prior to buying. Since I bought from Amazon through Macy's I was unable to return to the Macy's store and had to ship it back to the tune of a $7 fee...the product itself only cost $10.50. Disappointing.
Review: Very moisturizing, however scent is overpowering Beauty product: 3 Stars
I've been using CD's Marguerite's Magic for the past few months, now that I'm transitioning from relaxed hair to natural. Since then, I have nothing but great things to report. It smells fresh and pleasant and keeps my hair moisturized. I even use the excess from my hands and rub it on my legs. However, I wanted to try the Healthy Hair Butter - wow, equally smooth and creamy and instantly moisturized my hair.
However.... it smells like incense and is too overpowering to overlook. It smelled non-descript when I first opened up the jar, but after rubbing it in my hands and smoothing it on my hair, it took on a very strong, herbal odor.
I don't think I'd want to walk around smelling like sage mixed with Sulfur-8. I'll continue to use in small amounts, but I may pass on re-purchasing in the future. I love CD's all natural products since they are free from petroleum, mineral oil, sulfates and parabens... but they need to lighten up on the fragrances. I would be forgiving if it smelled like strawberries or pineapple.
