Review: Cheap AND Good?!?!?!

I read several reviews on amazon.com before deciding which straightening iron to buy. I had considered paying over $100 for some that were "recommended by professionals" but, after coming to my senses, I decided to put my faith in fellow reviewers who liked this product. Believe me, they weren't kidding!
I was particularly excited to see how tight of a grip the plates could get around my hair while the smooth ceramic surface prevents snagging and breakage-- my hair just slid right through perfectly. I couldn't believe what a difference it made in the way my hair looked-- so shiny and smooth. I wore my hair down yesterday, after "straightening" it with a big-barrel curling iron, then today after using the Conair straightener-- first thing this morning, my boss said "your hair looks so nice!"
Obviously, I can't speak to the longevity of the product, but I'd feel a lot better about needing to replace a $20 straightener vs. a $100+ one. Those expensive irons must either be magic or overrated, because this affordable one is amazing!

I actually got this for Christmas 2004 (because I asked for it) and I after blow drying my (newly shortened)hair last night I thought "hey, I should use that thing" so I took it out for the first time 9/15/05. It took no time at all to heat up, it gets super hot and HOLY COW my hair looks amazing. Gone are the little frizzies and flyaways. Hello perfectly flipped ends and smooth, shiney hair. I didn't think there was enough different for anyone else to notice, but 9 people have said "wow, your hair looks awesome" (gee, did it look that bad before?) today at work. As I said, I used it last night and it looked just as good this morning when I got out of bed. I didn't even have to brush it, just ran my fingers thru it (I have thick hair that is shoulder length).
I highly recommend this one. It will now have a permanent home on my vanity rather than in a basket in the linen closet!

This product has received an overwhelming amount of good reviews on amazon...why? I have no idea...this straightener lasted us barely two months of normal household use then apparently fried. Customer service (1-800-3-CONAIR) was non-existent. If this review serves to prevent some other poor consumer from wasting their money then I have spent my time well. Review: Cheap..and it actually works!

I have an expensive chi straightener however, the conair cs19jcs works much better and for much less money. My hair comes out great using the product. The only drawback is the handles--they are unusually large and awkward. I'm not sure how long this product will last, but will enjoy the results in the meantime.
