Review: Are they supposed to melt?

My wife just bought one of these sets and couldn't wait to get home to try it. She read the
instructions, than plugged it in, and waited a few minuets. When she pulled one of the rollers out
of it's hole, the bottom end was hanging from melted plastic. She pulled out another one with the
same result. She finally got one out that she could put in her hair and got one good curl out of
the deal, but is very disappointed. We are going to return these things as soon as we can.

I have thick, straight, just below shoulder length hair. These rollers worked GREAT FOR ME!! I actually purchased them at a CVS Drug store and had some "cvs" bucks and some additional savings so I only paid about $18 for them. But I am very pleased. They were SO much easier to use than the ones with metal clips, they go in fast, come out fast, and I definitely had lots of body. SO many of the negative comments left for this product were from misuse. Yes they will burn your fingers if you touch the hot part, Yes if you drop the whole set the lid might crack (someone actually made that complaint!!), Yes if you don't roll them into your hair correctly you can end up with kinked ends, Yes if your hair is extremely thick and long the plastic clips may not be big enough to hold the roller in place, Yes if your hair is super thin and short you may have difficulty keeping them in place, and Yes there is a place to store the clips - its called a vanity drawer (or even a zip lock bag would do the trick!!) Use common sense and judgement when setting your expectations with this product. For me - with rather average, easy to curl hair - they are great and I am very pleased with my purchase. I've never used hot rollers before and I've found these really easy to use. The metal clips that come with the rollers work fine for me, though some say that they hate them (I read all the reviews before I decided to purchase). My hair's thick and now a little above my shoulders...it does have some curl of its own, but of course not the kind I want. :) Review: Awesome!

I have always wanted wavy hair, not curly, but wavy and this was just the trick. The rollers are perfect because they are not hot to the touch so it's easy to style them into the hair. The heated clips do wonders (however, I have seen some kinks from them and they sometimes are not big enough to hold the bigger rollers). With a little hairspray, you're good to go for the rest of the day. I definitely recommend this product for everyone! Review: Awful

I have had many sets of curlers, and theses are by far the worst. The plastic "clips" to hold your hair on the rollers cause a crease in my hair - that looks very awkward. I called the company (Conair) and complained & they said nothing. :( I took them to the Goodwill.
