Review: Doesn't work

DevaCurl was 15 or 20% off at my local discount beauty supply shop. I'd never heard of it but the (straight-haired) store associate said it was a great product. How could it not work any less than a regular conditioner?
I followed the directions, which are not unlike most directions for deep conditioners. Maybe I should have waited to (wide-tooth) comb out my hair until the treatment was complete, but I wanted whatever damage I inflicted on my hair in combing it to be mended whilst it was being conditioned. In any case, every time I used this product (I couldn't bring myself to throw it away), it was _very_ difficult to comb out. It felt thicker and tanglier and completely unmanageable. I felt like I couldn't rinse it out, either, but I noticed that when I went to put in my usual products (olive oil, Fructis "stiff" gel, and Carol Carter Styling Lotion), I had no trouble.
The last few times I used the product, I added in my regular conditioner just so I could comb out my hair without ruining it and breaking my long, curly hair.
