I went to Sephora and tried on a bunch of mascaras and only two stood out. Benefit Badgal Lash and this one. Blackout beat out badgal for two reasons. 1) I talked to the sales rep and she said diorshow lasts way longer (in other words it doesn't dry up quickly). 2) It flat out looks better. Your lashes are longer, fuller, and dare I say F ing amazing.
I'm in love with this mascara. I'll never be able to go back to lancome again. I am truely a convert.

Dior's Black Out mascara is slightly better than the Iconic style, but still not as good as the original DiorShow. Definitely the most dramatic of the trio, Black Out makes my lashes very long and dark with just one coat. However, the brush is weird and makes it hard to apply this mascara without clumping. I'll stick with DiorShow. Review: Take it from a makeup artist!

I have been using Blackout since it was first introduced. I have been a makeup artist many years and have tried everything on the market. I eventually fell in love with DiorShow (original) however, found the formula to be very dry. What this means is the tube really isn't any good after a month it is so dried out. When I saw Blackout I knew I had to try it. It was exactly the fix on the original that I was hoping for. I have never had any smudging with this mascara and my thoughts are to those that do...it is most likely a number of reasons-- it could be that your skin is very oily, or the type of concealer or shadow base that you are using. Instead of knocking this product and settling for a dried-out version, look to make some other changes in your cosmetic use. You are missing out on the best mascara ever invented! Once I went to the eye doctor and had to have my eye irrigated because of a torn contact lens, the women in the office were flabbergasted that not a smudge or run came from my mascara, and of course they were all asking where they could get it! I do not use the waterproof version and never have in any brand as too much damage can be done to your lashes, but who needs water proof when you have this staying power! I also find it comes off easily with a good eye makeup remover. Review: The BEST Mascara EVER!

I have never been so pleased with a mascara as I am with this one. It gives such length and makes your lashes significantly thicker. Great look! I just wish it came in waterproof - but I guess you can't have everything? Review: Toss Out the Black Out

This mascara is ridiculous. I'm convinced the wand is for giants, and the brush is the size of a fuzzy catterpillar. I actually have to use a different mascara wand when I put it on! The review before me is right about the staying power. I have to touch up my raccoon eyes nearly every hour when I wear this! The formula itself is nice and black, but that's about it. My old standby favorite is much more elongating and separating! I've gone back to my tried and true mascara...Seriously, don't waste your money. I give it one star for the attractive packaging.
