Product reviews of Earth Science - Fragrance-Free Shampoo, 12 fl oz liquid Review: great! Beauty product: 4 Stars
I recently tried this shampoo looking for a brand that didn't contain sodium laurel sulfate (itchy scalp oy!), or penetration enhancers like Propylene Glycol (allows other chemicals to penetrate skin), preservatives like Methylparaben (which may alter hormone levels and put unborn child at risk), Cocamide DEA /MEA (may contain impurities or combine with other chemicals to form carcinogenic nitrosamines), and (Cocamidopropyl Betaine which may containe nitrosamines). At least this is what I've read. I'm no chemist. I may be misinformed, so take it with a grain of salt.
It basically seems the lesser of other evils, and doesn't contain fragrance (which may be stinky or irritate).
Supposedly chamomile is good for blond highlights, and jojoba and panthenol is good for hair (strength?).
At any rate I found that when I used this shampoo I needed to wash my hair every other day or less, though there was an acclimation period. Now since I've run out and decided to use up an old shampoo (John Frieda Sheer Blonde Highlight Activating Shampoo, which contains above "bad" ingredients!), I find I need to wash my hair everyday (and it looks greasy a lot!) Yuk! I'm switching back to Earth Science.
Earth Science Pure Essentials Fragrance Free Ingredients:
Water, Sodium Myreth Sulfate, Wheat Germamidopropyl Betaine, Chamomile Extract, Jojoba Oil, Hydrolyzed Wheat Protein, Panthenol, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Hydroxymethlyglucinate, Lactic Acid
I like the conditioner too.
Review: not as advertised Beauty product: 2 Stars
The product it's self is fine, but what you get is 12oz bottles in clear not green bottles (new packaging I guess), and not the 17oz advertised.
Review: perfume free shampoo Beauty product: 5 Stars
I love this product. It has stopped the itching on my head. I have been hunting for perfume free shampoo for several months, and finally got wise and searched on the computer. There it was!
Review: works great! Beauty product: 5 Stars
Switched to a fragrance free shampoo/conditioner recently due to chemical allergies. This is a great shampoo--the best fragrance free one I've used so far. I have also used the Whole Foods Fragrance-free shampoo, which was a lot cheaper, but had a horrible smell and didn't work that well. Two thumbs up for this one!
