The iron worked GREAT for the time I've had it... probably about 11 months. I took care of it, cleaned it, didn't use it often. Today it would heat up and the red light was barely blinking. So sad. Now I'm looking at other options. Review: Love it!

I don't flatiron often, so I wanted something that would be a long-term investment and when I first bought this iron, I was really impressed. But after only a few months, I noticed the plates were cracked and the cord connection was damaged- and for a higher-end/pricier iron, it was kind of a let down (not to mention safety hazard). I've been using my little sister's Jilbere 1-inch with great success and I think I'll stick with that for now, although I am considering purchasing a Solia in the near future if the feedback is positive. This is the best flat iron I've ever used. It doesn't snag your hair like some others do. It has a nice long cord so you can work with it easily. It is the perfect width to straighten my hair in about 5 minutes & I've got thick hair. My sister has thicker hair & its naturally curly & she used this & couldn't believe the difference from a 'cheap' flat iron. She was amazed that it didn't take her 40 minutes to get the look she wanted but rather 10 minutes. It has an adjustable heat setting so you can adjust it to your type of hair. I actually had a HAI flat iron before but used it just about every day for about 5 years & it finally died. I tried another brand that was less expensive to replace it but didn't like it so I returned it & went with the brand that I trust & love. I don't think you'll be disappointed with this one. I believe this is the same iron that my hair stylist used on my hair and was pleasantly surprised to see it for an affordable amount, unlike at the salon (I think it was selling for $180 there). The iron heats up quickly and I haven't had any issues with it yet, unlike some of the other users. The dial allows you to select the proper temperature to use for your hair type, which is convenient.
It seems that allowing my hair to dry fully and then running it through the iron allows it to straighten without having the frizzy ends. So unlike some users that have used this product on wet hair, I get better results after drying my hair.
I haven't plugged and unplugged the iron often and they send instructions to keep it plugged in if possible, using the on/off switch instead of fulling disconnecting from the plug to turn it off. I'm not sure if this is due to issues they've had with the plug/cord or for our convenience, although the latter doesn't seem likely; as you are instructed to unplug most electrical appliances that are used in the restroom, when not in use.
The decision maker for me was that it was a decently priced model for a ceramic flat iron. I've read other flat iron complaints from melting ceramic plates, cords with shorts, to the ceramic plate falling off entirely from the iron. I figured that if I'm going to dish out $$$ for a flat iron, might as well get a good ceramic iron for a decent price considering all the different problems that can occur with them.
