The soothing, swishing white noise sound of this machine not only blocks out traffic noise and noisy neighbors, but it's relaxing in a quiet environment. I find I drop off to sleep a lot faster if I have this running next to my bed. I am not sure why, but it is very relaxing. Review: WOW...what a product!

I moved into a brand new house...but it is close to the Highway. I use to live in an area free of outside noises. I slept with ear plugs which caused the inside of my ears to hurt. The traffic noise was driving me crazy! I did a lot of research and found this product. I put in the order and waited by the door. I bought two of them. One for my room and one for the guest room. In 3 days..they came. I used it the first night and slept like a baby. I could not believe that it worked so well and so quickly. My wife was skeptical, but she praised it the next day! I am an everyday person, not someone working for the company. I am not impressed easily, but this product is awsome! Review: Sorry, I didn't like this product!

I purchased the Marpac Sleep Mate 980 based on the excellent customer reviews here. Last summer we were having problems with our neighbor's dogs keeping us up at night, and I really needed something to help me drop off to sleep. A poison hot dog thrown over the fence didn't seem like the thing to do, so I purchased this product with high hopes.
I guess I am one of the few people who could not get used to the sound it made. I tried it over several nights and the "whooshing" sound was very irritating instead of soothing. There seemed to be no way to get it adjusted to the right, calming effect it was supposed to have. The only thing I can say is the manufacturer took it back with no questions asked, and I got my refund.
PS -- The neighbors finally got rid of the dog. I would rather he had stayed, and they had moved.
Review: After 6 Years - A Good Nights's Sleep!!!

I have not been able to sleep through the night in 6 years! My partner snores and I assure you, he is not a light snorer! Without going into details of the noises that have kept me up and in tears, I found this product! It works, it really works.
We don't need separate bedrooms now and even though I still wear my earplugs, without the Marpac Sleep Mate I still could hear him clearly. Now the sounds have disappeared.
So if your spouse chooses not to seek help for snoring, insisting nothing will work I can assure you this wonderful product works for us.

I have used one of these devices for 20 years in the hallway outside of my therapy office. It helps those walking past from hearing any measure of conversation that's occuring inside the office. I just ordered another one for my other office.
