I was skeptical but was amazed and how quickly this worked for my almost 6 year old. My daughter has sucked her thumb since she was an infant and lately her thumb has rarely left her mouth. I put Mavala on twice and haven't seen her suck her thumb once. Simple and it works!!!! Review: Amazing !!!!

We used this on our 3 year old which has sucked her thumb since birth. The last 6 months while sucking her thumb, she would pick at the top of her nose and face causing scarring.
After 4 days of using this, she stopped! She doesn't even make the motions of putting her thumb in her mouth any longer. The first few nights were hard as she kept getting up to tell us her mouth taste like soap and no being able to comfort herself....but it quickly passed and we are home free now :)

After trying another brand I decided to order this one and I could not be more pleased with the results! Other brands failed - my son said he didn't care that it tasted bad. Well.... his mind changed after I put on the Mavala product. He only put his thumb in his mouth once and hasn't done it since! Don't waste your money on other products! Get this one first! Our daughter is 2 and-a-half and loved to suck her thumb. All of the time, especially when going to sleep. My wife and I didn't have any concern (given how young she is, we figured she would grow out of it), but our dentist said that her teeth were getting out of position and that we should try to get her to stop. We looked at thumb guards, but they looked so bulky for a toddler, so we bought this product after a recommendation from a friend. For about a week, we tried to get our daughter to stop sucking her thumb by encouragement and rewards, but she was too young for that to work and said that stopping sucking her thumb would make her feel "sad." You know, she would say "go away," and then she would suck her thumb. So, we bought Mavala and explained to her that this would help her stop sucking her thumb. At first, she didn't want it, but then she said she wanted to stop sucking her thumb and wanted to try it. We put one coat on her left thumb, and immediately were told, "I don't like that," and "wash that off" and "I don't like that taste." Heard it many times and each time, we tried to change the subject. And, guess what -- she STOPPED sucking her thumb. At night, this girl who always fell asleep with her thumb in her mouth stopped as well. It wasn't the easiest night, but the next day and night things were so much better. We are on day 3 and we reapplied a coat to make sure we don't lose any of the gains, but so far, this is working like a charm and, as a parent, have to say it has been relatively painless. Sure, it was cute when her thumb was in her mouth and she was sleeping. But it wouldn't be cute when in a few years her teeth would be all misaligned and we would be paying substantial orthodontic bills. In short, if you are considering this product even for someone as young as two and a half, as long as he or she can somewhat understand what is going on, then this product could not be more recommended. I have been biting my nails for nearly 30 years. When I noticed my 6 year old biting hers just like I had all my life, I decided it was time to stop and that we would do it together. I shopped around and saw this product was highly rated so I decided to try it. It has been one of the greatest products I have ever purchased. It is the PERFECT amount of discouragement, especially for those of us who bite unconsciously. I am so proud of my hands now, I show them off. We used it steady as directed for about a month and a half. Now I only use it occasionally. We have not bitten our nails since putting it on. It tastes TERRIBLE and the taste lingers in your mouth, which is great to train yourself not to bite. Now my daughter and I give ourselves a manicure every week to reward ourselves. :) I recommend this highly for anyone who wants to quit.
