I never realized it until recently but I habitually lean on my left elbow. While typing, driving, couching, whatever. If there's a left side arm rest - I do.
All of which might explain why the elbow skin around there has the texture of 80 grit sandpaper. Does that bother me? How much time do you spend looking at your elbows? Me too. My better half, however, notices these things and "suggested" I try some kind of moisturizer.
For the sake of world peace I agreed.
Neutrogena`s Healthy Defense Liquid Moisturizer is a "light liquid", meaning this isn't like squeezing mayonnaise or mustard onto your skin. The stuff is light with no greasiness and just the mildest scent - kinda smells like soap (which never hurt a guy).
I read somewhere a long time ago that a large percentage of the price of cosmetics goes towards packaging. In the case of Healthy Defense, I'd say it's justified. An extremely well-designed large twist-off cap that's almost fun to use - if you can believe that.
Just dab a little in your palm, squish it around with your fingers and apply it to whatever external skin problem you've got. I've been using it in the morning for the past two weeks and, while no one's going to confuse my elbow with the proverbial baby's bottom, in guy-speak I'd say I've worked my up through the grits to at least a very fine 220.
The 1.4 oz. container still has plenty in it so I'll keep dabbing away.
The UV protection is rated at SPF 50. Not being the type to lie around in the sun working on my tan, I can't say this holds much significance, but I'll keep it in mind while driving home during those early summer months with the late afternoon sun baking the left-hand side of the car - and the skin around my elbow along with it.
