Product reviews of Philosophy Hope in a Jar 4 oz Review: This product needs little of your patient Beauty product: 3 StarsI have a combination asian skin. This is the first US product I tried. I red most of the reviews before I buy it, and they are right on the reaction this product do to your skin.
The first week after I tried, I had breakouts on my face. So I stopped for 20 days and tried it again. Seems my skin slowly adjusted to the product and no more breakouts since then. I now use it everyday morning and night. It is not greasy at all and easy to be absorbed by skin, and it is very suitable for hummid weather in Florida.
I believe the smell of this product is an issue. I use the original formula. First time I thought I smell fish. But, I guess I like the product a lot so somehow I tolerant the smell. After a while, I just get used to the smell.
I will suggest to try a small sample for first time user. If it doesn't work on your face, you can use on your neck area as well.
Hope this review helps.
Review: Not for Sensitive Skins-- Perfume is Unnecessary! Beauty product: 1 StarsNot for Sensitive Skins-- Perfume is Unnecessary
Why would a company put such a heavy perfume in a facial moisturizer? It seems that the majority of the negative reviews are because of the odor.
I usually use Clinique, or Bare Minerals which is completely fragrance-free. Even then, I sometimes get reactions (usually to chemical sunscreens that are in a lot of day creams).
This product is not a good choice for women who have sensitive skin. It didn't make me break out, because it actually burned and I had to take it off immediately. This product contains Diazolidinyl Urea which is irritating to a lot of people (including me).
Conclusion: Lots of good reviews, so I guess it's worth a try, but skip it if you don't like perfumed moisturizers.
Review: Awful! Beauty product: 1 StarsI bought this moisturizer based on all of the rave reviews I've read thru the years -- and I absolutely hated it! The smell is terrible and it made my face break out. A previous reviewer mentioned she thought all of the 1-star reviews were either bogus or from a "mole" in another company -- and I can assure you that I am neither. I'm just trying to find a great moisturizer -- and this ain't it! Keep in mind that not everybody's skin is the same, so of course there are going to be some of us out there who aren't impressed with this product.
Review: Worst moisturizer I have ever used Beauty product: 1 StarsI bought Hope in a Jar about a month ago after I ran out of my normal moisturizer. I read the good reviews and thought the price was pretty reasonable. After three weeks of use, my skin looks worse than it has in years: dry skin is flaking off under my eyes and around my mouth. In fact, my skin is drier using this moisturizer than with nothing at all. I normally don't even need a really heavy duty moisturizer since I have combination type skin so this was totally surprising. Maybe if you are teenager or have super oily skin this is the one for you. But honestly, if you are actually looking for a moisturizer i.e. something that ADDS moisture to your skin, I would definitely not recommend this. Don't waste your money like I did.
Review: Smelly! Beauty product: 1 StarsI've only used this cream for about a week because the smell is just too horrible for me. It makes me want to barf.
Also, after I got this and the Philosophy purity cleanser, my face started to get little bumps all over it. Not sure if it was the cleanser or this cream that did it but I seemed to have some sort of allergic reaction. My face felt horrible (although you couldn't really see the bumps) and I had to stop using these products.
