Review: Fantastic Cleanser
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I have extremely temperamental skin, which is both dry and acne prone. I had acne as a teenager, and had to go to a dermatologist for treatments on a regular basis. I was hoping my skin would be clear as an adult. I did find that it cleared up in my 20's, but alas, now in my 30's zits have come back to plague me with a vengeance. I have tried so many acne products and cleansers including prescriptions. Finally, with this Purity Made Simple cleanser, I have found a product that is really helping to clear up my skin. I still have the occasional PMS pimple, but it is nothing like the cystic acne I was getting before. This cleanser feels very creamy and gentle on the skin and has a somewhat herbal or medicinal smell that I actually enjoy. I don't like products that smell like perfume as they irritate my skin and exacerbate my acne. I am hooked on this cleanser. I hope Philosophy never changes the formula or discontinues this product.

Review: alas, overhyped cleanser

What is the big deal about Philosphy products? Never have I seen so much pretentious prattle written on a bottle. Oh pardon me, "philosophical" prattle. Empty , meaningless words, I might add, trying to convince me I will achieve nirvana when using this facial wash.

Purity MAde Simple is just another face wash. That's all.

I purchased a BIG bottle of this stuff because I had a coupon and I wanted to indulge in some "luxury" (meaning, not drugstore) facial products. Having espied these products in cosmetics store and on QVC (forgive me), I decided to give them a try.

Purity Made Simple has a good, thick consistency that coats the face well. A little goes a long way. It does not foam, which I don't mind. But I do blanch at the smell, which is...unique. It's not a foul odor, really, but it is an herbal smell. Given my zero sense of gardening, I can only guess that it smells of patouchie (sp). Like the stuff grandma wears. Maybe a bit of lavender, a little citrus. It's not a skunky bad smell, but it's also not a smell I'd want to drench my entire body in.

This cleanser doesn't really remove mascara very well; I really ahve to rub it vigorously over my eyes. At least it does not sting in my eyes. It washes away nicely and leaves skin refreshed. Does it restore my skin's radiant glow? Not any better or worse than the Neutrogena or Olay products from the drugstore. It cleans my face and I haven't experienced any weird rash or breakouts from using this, so I will not totally disown this product.

Review: This helped clear up my problematic combonation skin
Beauty product: 4 Stars

I've had issues with my skin since shortly before my teen years and have tried many products without results. This one works! I dilute it (it feels slightly greasy to me if I don't) and I alternate it with DHC's Olive soap and mild soap www.dhccare.com.
The small size lasts for quite a while you diluted or not (I've used it both ways).
It's one of my favorite products.

Review: No nonsense skin care
Beauty product: 5 Stars

I adore the whole Philosophy skincare line. I use this once in the morning & once at night. I notice a difference when I stop using it. My skin gets duller, as well as breakouts on my chin and t-zone. It brightens and evens out my skin in combination with the Hope in a Jar & Tube creams. I don't have any major skin problems though, so if you have major break-outs or dry skin areas I don't know how this would work for you. I would try it though, I think it's great.

Review: gentle and effective

This cleanser does not remove all traces of makeup or make my skin perfectly clear as some reviews claim but it is the best cleanser that I have tried. At first I was skeptical because I did not see a change but after about a week of use my skin gradually cleared up. I have always had oily acne prone skin and still do, but I now have fewer and less severe breakouts. The scent is not too strong, it is not great but does not bother me either. I suggest using it both morning and night instead of once a day as the label suggests, I did not see results until I tried it twice a day. The 40 oz bottle is definitely the way to go, I saw the 3 oz in Nordstrom yesterday and it looked like a sample size, the 40 oz is the same size bottle that Philosophy's bubble bath comes in.
