Review: A fire hazard, Beware!

Beware!!! When buying this product. We have went through 4 of these in the last year. If left on for a period of time like an hour, it starts to slowly(over a period of a few months) melt the outer plastic until its burnt and black becoming a fire hazard before you know it. The outer side becomes as hot as the inner straightener heating up the desk or carpet that it is sat on. I find myself making sure it is off before I leave the house. We even thought that buying two at a time would solve this problem but it just delayed it. Why would I have bought four you ask...well we thought the first was defective so we bought the second one that fell apart after about three months so I bought the third and forth. My daughters love this product for straightening their hair.It is an inexpensive way of getting a professional look. It is not worth the safty of my home and family to get this, trying another product this time.

Revlon Perfect Heat Professional Full-Size Straightener has a gold-tone, 2" full-size heating plates to maintain high heat. It has 170 watts of power and a 60-second fast heat-up. There are separate heating systems in each plate to maintain consistent heat. It has 25 heat settings, an "ON/OFF" switch with an "ON" indicator and a tangle-free swivel cord.This professional-quality hair straightener--with two gold-tone plates that clamp hair between them--employs 170 watts of power to create smooth hairstyles from curly or wavy hair. The plates are full size (3-1/2 by 2 inches), and each has a separate heating system. The plates heat up in just 60 seconds and recover quickly to maintain a constant temperature. Because they're gold plated, they heat better, last longer, and help protect chemically treated hair. There are 10 heat settings from which to select, permitting you to use the straightener for any type of hair, from fine to medium to thick to coarse.
