Product reviews of Revlon RV440C 1200 Watt Ionic Hot Air Dryer and Styler, Blue Review: Not suitable for fine hair Beauty product: 2 Stars
This one seems to be more of a blower than a styler. I guess the 1200W is a little overkill, but the barrel design also adds to the problem. Unlike other hot air stylers, this one has vents at the base of the barrels, apparently designed to also blow air from the outside (in addition to the inside the barrel). This is especially a problem with the smaller attachment, because its vents are larger. I use the smaller barrel to style my bangs, but the air from the vents blows my fine bangs all over the place as I try to latch onto them with the bristles of the barrel. Maybe this works well if you have long, thick hair, and you are trying to use this to dry your wet hair quickly. But this doesn't work for me. I'll try the Revlon RV444 Hot Air Styler and Dryer with Ceramic, which doesn't seem to have these unwanted vents, and also seems to have a less monsterous handle, because I do like the smoothing effect that I get from Revlon's bristly barrels.
A few more notes about Amazon's description of this product:
1. They specify 3 speed settings and 3 heat settings, but this isn't true. There are 3 settings... Period. Low, High, and cool. Low is slow blower with heat. High is fast blower with heat. Cool is fast blower with no heat (and if you want to use low heat, followed by a "cool shot", you have to cycle through a high power blast of heat first).
2. I really don't know what the purpose is of the "ionic" feature. For some reason, it's an option, with an associated button and LED that you have to push each time if you want to use it. Sounds like marketing hype if you ask me.
Review: Not the best dryer/styler Beauty product: 1 Stars
It takes so much longer to dry your hair with this thing than it does to blow dry it with the Revlon Ion Dryer and then straighten your hair with a straightner. I really do not think that this is a good purchase because it takes so much time to dry your hair. (it took me 25 min. to dry my hair and it doesn't even go past my ears)
Review: On my 4th one since Dec Beauty product: 1 Stars
I love this product for what it does for my hair WHEN IT WORKS! I am on my 4th one since December and the only reason I keep getting the same one is because I keep exchanging it. The first one was broken right out of the package, the button clip that keeps the brush on was broken, the 2nd one burned out, the 3rd one, the little screen on the bottom broke off and it smells like it is burning and the 4th one was purchased on Friday and died on Tuesday. I finally wrote to the manufacturer!!! I am exchanging again today for a different model. I hope the new one I get works as good but more importantly, I hope it keeps working!!!
Review: Overheater Beauty product: 1 Stars
The first day I used this brand new dryer, it overheated after 5 minutes and never turned back on. Blow in it to cool it down? Forget it! I'd hyperventilate trying to cool it off enough to use it again. It would be easier to grow an extra arm and be able to hold a regular dryer in one hand and a round brush in the other, and use the new hand to separate the sections.
Review: RV440C 1200W Ionic Hot Air Brush Beauty product: 5 Stars
It's fabulous!! Saves me a ton of time - and pain: I had hand surgery last year which was not successful and as a result it is extremely difficult for me to use a brush and a regular hairdryer. I'm absolutely delighted and if/when it wears out I'll be looking to Amazon to buy another one (just over the border from Canada is Buffalo NY so it's nice and close for me to pop over and pick it up at the postal stn!)
