Product reviews of SEPHORA COLLECTION Glass Nail Files Review: Live and learn Beauty product: 5 Stars
I never thought I would like a glass nail file...but I do! They are so easy to use and clean. My only complaint is sometimes the noise hurts my ears like nails on a chaulk board.
Review: Not a good replacement for my old crystal file! Beauty product: 2 Stars
Recently lost the wonderful crystal glass file I bought years ago. After reading many Amazon reviews of crystal files, I decided to make a trip to the local Sephora store, which I knew would have a sample file to try. How disappointing to find that this file, now made in the Philippines, was far rougher than my previous file.
Almost next door at the same mall was a CVS Long's drugstore which also carries crystal nail files under the Revlon brand. Same price, but no sample to try. Took a chance, bought it, and was disappointed to find this made-in-China version was just as rough as the Sephora crystal file. (This matters most at the very edge of the nail, to prevent hangnails.) So, I am still looking.
IMHO, manufacturers should put a numerical rating (like sandpaper manufacturers do) on crystal nail files. In the product description, a very few crystal nail files mention a grit of 200-220, but checking Wikipedia I found that even this would be equivalent to a very fine sandpaper, not a so-called 'microgrit' where the number would be about 300+. I think this Sephora file would qualify more as a 'medium' grit.
Review: Only one complaint Beauty product: 4 Stars
Upon initial reciept I like this file.It files VERY well. It only takes one or two passes over the nail to decrease length of nails. My only complaint is that the files are a little thicker than I had thought they would be. But all in all, a nice nail file. I will up date if the file breaks or looses its rough file. Oh yeah, and as stated by others, the file does only have file on one side; the other side is smooth glass.
Review: The only file I'll use! Beauty product: 5 Stars
I discovered glass nail files when I was learning to play classical guitar. My teacher recommended them to me as an easy way to keep my nails perfectly shaped for finger picking. Years later, I don't play guitar much anymore, but I still have the file, and it's still just as good as the day I bought it! It cleans up in a snap, and files my nails easily and beautifully. Even though I put no effort at all into my "manicure", I frequently get compliments on how nice my nails look.
And don't let the fact that it's glass scare you off. I don't treat mine gently by any means, and I've never managed to so much as scratch it.
Review: Very poor shipping practice Beauty product: 3 Stars
We have used glass nail files for several years and they cut nail edges very clean. Sephora ships their Glass Nail file in a soft plastic envelope with no packing. It arrived in four pieces and they will not replace it. They will refund the cost of the file, but not the shipping which is as much as the file.
The other brand purchased through Amazon arrived intact even though the BOX was brutalized by UPS, and it has both sides of the file useable.
If you like them, I would recommend the Crystal brand.
