I went on a trip to the Caribbean earlier this year, and as I was going to be doing a lot of snorkeling I wanted to use reef-friendly sunblock. I decided to go with this one because of the higher SPF and water-resistant claim. Unfortunately, it didn't work at all for me; I was (very) sunburned after just one afternoon. I am fair-skinned and am used to reapplying sunblock frequently. Since this isn't waterproof, I reapplied every time I got out of the water (about every 30-45 minutes or so), after toweling off. Because of the zinc base, it doesn't completely absorb into your skin (which is actually helpful because it shows you any areas that you missed), so I thought I was reapplying appropriately. I haven't tried other zinc-based sunblocks before, so I don't know if they are generally not as effective (for me) or just this one. Maybe it would work better for people who aren't as fair or if you didn't spend much time in the water, but as far as I can tell it did nothing for me.
