Review: Halts nicks in their tracks
Beauty product: 5 Stars

It's always begins the same way - I'm almost done shaving, a perfect shave. No cuts, no nicks, just a smooth, slightly red but happy face. Then, on one of the final drags of the Fusion across my neck I manage to cut myself. In the past, I curse loudly, dab the blood with a tissue or cotton round, wait, dab again, wait, splash my face with cold water, wait, dab, wait., eventually it clots and I have a nice imperfection marring my previously perfect shave.

These days, when I cut myself I curse loudly (still) but now reach by the sink and grab my alum block, hold it under running water for a few seconds, hold it to my cut for another few seconds, and then it's taken care of. I apply aftershave as if nothing had ever happened. Problem solved.

Review: helpful soap!
Beauty product: 4 Stars

very helpful ans soothing soap for all your shaving cuts...I usually get many cuts..so this soap comes in quite handy...I love the Art of Shaving projects

Review: messy and overprized
Beauty product: 2 Stars

First of all, I'm not a dermatologist, I'm just a heterosexual guy with sensitive skin who has tried many products and done a lot of research in the search of the right products. I offer reviews of Clinique, zirh, menscience, art of shaving and baxter of California, hope my reviews are helpful.
The art of shaving has to be my least favorite skincare product line. Their products are over prized, no samples or option of returning products if client is not satisfied is given.
I prefer gels, this balm was too irritating and thick. the shave cream is great, so you really don't need it anyways

Review: old fashioned barbershop cure
Beauty product: 5 Stars

Made from potash alum, an alum block is an old staple in traditional barbershops. Its all-natural antiseptic properties work as an astringent that instantly closes razor nicks from shaving. soothes and cools razor burn when rubbed over the entire face after a shave. Run it under cold water and lightly rub it over your face to soothe and cool razor burn after shaving. Alum was used by the Egyptians more than 4,000 years ago. If you find a cheaper brand it is OK, there are not much differences between them.
