I've always been a "spend extra on the better product vs. buy it cheap and buy often" type. That's why I own a mac. That's why I prefer basic high end clothes, vs. fads. That's why I have a Bang & Olufsen stereo.
I'd rather have a few nice things than a house full of crap.
With that, I bought the art of shaving sandalwood cream, along with the brush, and the pre-shave oil and aftershave. What a combo. If you can't go into AOS for an ACTUAL shave, this is the next best thing. But this is part of the tradition. I do it on Saturday mornings.
I start with a hot towel. Wet under the sink, then put into the microwave for 30 seconds. Then I put that on my face to soften the skin. Then I lay down the pre-shave oil, paying close attention to my chin.
Then the AOS shaving cream with the beaver brush, to lather my hair, again paying close attention to my chin, in an upward fashion.
Then with a brand new blade, I shave downward to remove the facial hair.
Then I re-oil, re-lather, and shave upward.
I get a shave as close as a babies bottom. And part of that experience, from the smell, to the movement, to the experience... and also to the protection of my face... I'm a fan of the AOS Sandalwood cream.
In fact? I'm buying more right now.

Description of The Art Of Shaving Cream Sandalwood 5.3 oz
The Art of Shaving Shaving Cream softens and lifts the beard for a close and comfortable shave, and protects the skin from irritation and razor burn. Rich with glycerin, coconut oil and essential oils, the Shaving Cream leaves your skin smooth and moisturized. It can be lathered up with a Shaving Brush or with fingers.The Art of Shaving products are Aromatherapy-based , scented with 100% pure essential oils selected for their therapeutic skin properties and specifically blended for a variety of skin types.
Shaving Tips:
Use hot water with Shaving Cream to soften hair, open pores and cleanse.
For an unctuous lather, use with a badger Shaving Brush.
For best results and a very comfortable shave, place lather in center of brush and let it sit for five seconds in hot water to warm up the lather before shaving.
For a close shave, lather onto skin in an upwards motion so as to cause whiskers to lift away from face and neck.
Always shave with the grain first, then lightly across or against the grain for a closer shave.
Applying too much pressure when shaving against the grain can cause ingrown hairs, and red marks or patches to appear on face or neck.
Stay away from products that contain numbing agents such as Benzocaine or Menthol as these will tighten pores and stiffen beard.
