Review: Did not live up to expectation

I bought the Zeno Hot Spot after reading all the reviews on Amazon and on the product's website. I do not have cystic acne, just mild breakouts now and again so I thought this product would work for me. First of all, this product only has 80 uses - if it had worked for me I would have been disappointed with the limited number of treatments. Following the instructions, (keeping the tip clean between treatments, using the appropriate amount of treatments within a certain time span, etc.) I treated a couple of potential breakouts with no results. I had high hopes for this product but it just did not live up to expectation. Review: Dissapointment, warmed up with a cute little package.

I had the same issues many people are talking about:
1) it does not reduce any sort of acne at all, just makes them more red and inflamed.
2) It does not always work. I cannot use it two times in a row without putting it down and letting it sit for 30-45 minutes. Sometimes it wont turn on at all. This makes treating my skin so much of a pain in the butt that I would rather take a match it pimples. It may be more effective. I have had it stop working in the middle of a session and just sit and blink the power light. I don't know what that means but it was not supposed to happen.
3) Way too expensive for only 80 uses, especially because it would take several treatments to so much as reduce ONE breakout.
4) Poor customer service experience. Ive decided to just suck it up and forget about my $40 because the service people are rude and unaccomodating.
Every day I look at this thing I get more and more frustrated by it. I have not dropped it, gotten it wet, done anything to harm it yet it still malfunctions every time I use it. I will never buy one again.
Review: Does works but unit self-destructs after 80 uses

Just like printer ink cartridges that stop working after 100 pages are printed, Zeno kills the unit after 80 uses even though it runs off regular AA batteries. That way you're forced to buy another unit. I suspect their claim is that "it's for your own safety because the unit might malfunction and burn you after 80 uses" but we all know that's BS (I'm an electrical engineer and know there are ways to make a heating element and thermostat more reliable).

While this product does reduce acne outbreaks, the scammy kill unit approach earns it 1 star.

After only ~5 uses it broke on me...I've opened an ticket with them.

Zeno is great for small blemishes, however was a little inefficient at minimizing larger blemishes. I felt that instead of minimizing the blemish it brought it on faster which is NOT what I wanted. Although it does eventually diminish the size of a blemish, it also dries out your skin and can be irritating because of the constant heat. I'm not sure if I would purchase this product again, but I would reccomend that you try it. It's worth a shot and even if it didn't quite work for me it may very well work for you! I have been a loyal Zeno customer and used to use their former model. The former model worked well (the base of the product was re-usable and you had to buy replacement heads). Zeno has moved away from that product and is now focusing on this proudct - Zeno Hot Spot. It works well, when it works. I have had two in a row completely stop working after very few uses. On top of that, they have the worst customer service I have ever experienced. They do not answer their phones, do not returns voicemails, and sometimes do not return emails. They did send me one new one, but I had to pay the shipping costs to send it to them. Now that the new one has broken, I am seriously considering getting a refund and trying to find a new solution.
