Review: Finally found my "zen" of makeup!!!

At the risk of sounding like a broken record and endless echo, DITTO what everyone else is saying! OMG, I've only had this makeup on for 10 minutes, and I am still in (delightful) SHOCK! I'm 56 years old, Native American on my dad's side, so naturally with olive-toned skin. As everyone with olive/greenish/yellow-toned skin already knows, finding makeup that matches and enhances our skin can be a torturous, expensive, and fruitless search. I have always had to settle for something that was too pink, too orange, too ivory, too golden/honey, too bronze, or too tan, and my skin is NONE of the above. I DREADED buying and using makeup, and even more so, I dreaded looking in the mirror while in natural sunlight. UGH - I felt so artificial!
I stumbled upon the Zhen line quite by accident after searching for "best makeup" in Amazon last week. After reading the reviews, I was ecstatically hopeful that my search had finally ended. However, I still wasn't sure about which shade I wanted to try, so I placed the order directly with Zhen Beauty.
The sales clerk was extremely helpful and courteous as well as patient - I never felt rushed, and I felt like she truly wanted to help me. Luckily, they have very affordable SAMPLE sizes of all the liquid foundation and some of the powders, so I ordered samples in all five colors, thinking I would max my chances of mixing and matching to find the perfect shade.
I placed the order late last Thursday. They promise delivery in 3 - 7 business days, so I was crossing my fingers it would get here before this Friday, as I have an important meeting and want to look my best. Imagine my shrieking delight when the order arrived today - MONDAY - just two business days after placing the order!
I immediately ripped the package open, ran to the bathroom, washed my face, and got to work. I held all the foundations up to my face. None of them seemed like a perfect match, but I decided the Bamboo was the closest match, so I would try that first, and maybe end up blending to find the absolute perfect match. Turns out I won't have to - BAMBOO IS MY COLOR! It disappeared right into my skin - no makeup lines - and with perfect coverage! As others have said, it's not too heavy, but just enough coverage to hide blemishes. I also used the illuminating concealer to help with dark undereye circles and a few acne scars, which works great too. I followed that with the Bamboo powder. MY FACE HAS NEVER LOOKED SO BEAUTIFUL! I am going to feel so confident for my meeting on Friday - I feel like I need to go somewhere now just to show off my new face LOL. Finally, I have found the "real" me - at least in the make-up version! :)
It will also be great to have all five sample colors on hand when the warm weather gets here and my skin "warms up" from being out in the sun. I can keep tweaking and blending, if need be, to ensure a good match, and if I run out, I will know which colors I need to buy for summer versus winter. It's a very smart business move for the company to provide samples - if only everyone followed that model!
Also, I was unsure which type of foundation I should try, because I do have imperfections in my skin as well as very oily skin, and it's starting to show its age with tiny lines and wrinkles. I decided to go with the matte, because oily shine is my biggest complaint with makeup, even though I was a little concerned my face might look too "dry," as it does with some matte foundations. But it turns out that it's perfect - just enough to control the oil, but I still have that "dewy" look, even after applying the powder. I may try the light diffusing foundation next to see how that works, but I'm very happy with the matte version.
The sales clerk also helped me choose a lipstick. I wanted something that was basically the color of my lips (pretty much the same color as my gums), so it would blend in naturally. We chose the crème version of Claret, and it's perfect!
I wish I had made this discovery years ago - I shudder to think of the money I have wasted on makeup that disappointed. From now on, Zhen Beauty is going to be my one-stop shop for ALL of my makeup. I'm going to save money and look my best, and it's one less thing in life I'll have to stress over. In fact, it's now something in life that I can look forward to and feel good about. YAY!
I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT AND THIS COMPANY. I JUST CAN'T SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THEM. IF YOU HAVE ANY YELLOW TONES WHATSOEVER IN YOUR SKIN, NO MATTER WHAT ETHNICITY, I ENCOURAGE YOU TO TRY IT - YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

I absolutely ADORE this foundation, it is the best I have ever used! Not only is it a perfect match for my Asian skin tone, it glides on smooth and covers perfectly without feeling heavy or sticky. I like to mix it with a little of my favorite SPF moisturizer before applying, and it is just perfect! Provides flawless medium coverage, but skin feels like no makeup is on at all. HIGHLY recommend, and hope Zhen Beauty stays in business forever!
